Left panel. Lateral view of the atria showing the location of the sinus node (fusiform green colour), and the arrangement in the left atrium of the 4 pulmonary veins.
Middle panel. Anterior view a normal heart photographed in attitudinally appropriate position. As can be seen, the right atrium lies anterior to its alleged left-sided counterpart. Note the location of the transverse sinus (white broken line).
Right panel. External appearance of the right and left atriums viewed from superior view. Note the relationship to the aorta and pulmonary trunk (PT).
